Kargodu falls

Kargodu falls, which has elevated the beauty of forest with the crystal clear water, gushing down the rocky path, is providing a magnificent view to the visitor. We planned to visit this unidentified waterfalls so as per our plan we started our morning with great breakfast, hot tea and Akki Rotti were right combination to get us going in full spirit, after a short bike ride we reached Kargodu village, we parked our vehicles and initial stretch goes through Areca plantations and later crossed a small bamboo bridge over a small stream.
Then we trekked on grassland plateau and then we entered the forest passing through a small hamlet towards the valley. Without taking rest we forwarded, the weather was extraordinarily favorable. We soon reached thick woods of the higher region and found ourselves enveloped by a virgin forest of gigantic elegant trees.
The beauty of this forest is inexpressible a certain anxiety nevertheless fills the wanderers souls. The deep stillness of the forest eerie rushing of the wind through these huge trees needles and sublimity of nature’s powerful forces made an impression on me that I will never forget.

Further our journey goes through many bushes thick bamboo roofed forests. Once we saw the waterfall none of us could speak the tough trek were forgotten it was worth everything I thanked god being alive to see one of his wonderful creation the thundering waterfall was mesmerizing getting cool showers from the fall all our tiredness vanished.
After running over a stretch of rocks to this place the brook tumbles downward around 80 feet with tremendous force into a rock basin where the water scattered in a million droplets come together again and then flows tranquilly into a small ravine. It is with difficulty that on climbs down into the base of the falls but however arduous the scrambling down just as rewarding is the sight one finds below. It was an authentically splendid scene all around stood rocks luxurious adorned with handsome plants and shrubs. It seems god might have taken the place for a masterpiece of tasteful gardening.
When illuminated by the sun, streams of waterfall forming a bright silver band down over the rocks producing an uproar that is doubly frightful in the beautiful space and the dark green leaves plantains adorn the waterfalls. We felt so good watching the falls it was like gallons of milk pouring down the hill time stood still everything around was mute except for the sound of the waterfall.

After we had enjoyed the stately tableau for long time we pulled ourselves away from the beautiful sight with great reluctance headed back the same way it was quiet quick we reached back in one hour. Throughout our journey was filled with hundreds of vibrant butterflies fluttering, Beautiful pebbles in grass bright like shining pearls, Colourful Mushrooms ,Evergreen forests, flowing very pure water in the brook, So many chirping birds and little variety of species, Romancing trees, Green covered hills and valleys all around it was a very wonderful experience.
It was that moment of happiness, joy and ecstasy that everyone unanimously exhibited after being amalgamated with nature for just two days!! Of course the real life out there in wild is calling us to fuse to make us realize the true happiness.

Nyger waterfalls

After long tiring weeks of work I planned a trek to few unexplored waterfalls in Western Ghats. When I visited here before I had a plan to visit unexplored places nearby this place. But the locals over here suggested, it would be better if we approach after November as it's located in dense forest and it requires crossing stream, so we decided December would be the right month to visit this place. We didn't have much information about this place as there was Krishna and Mahabala knows about this place. Thanks to Mr. Krishna who briefed and helped me to plan Nyger Waterfalls one of the amazing and thrilling.
With a wonderful pleasant weather our bike ride was very nice highly energetic and fully charged, we reached the starting point after a hard ride on mud road we parked our bikes end of the road and started our trek.
On initial stretch we crossed through thick jungles where sun never reached. Every moment we spent in the mysterious rain forest was a moment to reflect upon, making the day even more surreal and after walking for an hour through medium toughness level terrain, finally we made to reach top of the waterfalls.
We need to look down to see the beauty of the falls. After spending lot of time on top of the waterfalls our curiousness pushed to make a journey towards the base. But yet no one made it successful. With great risk and pressure in mind we hiked down to next level. On top we encountered a unique beauty and its magnificence made us to go next level.
We had some stunning views out over the top of the waterfalls while we were heading down. From this point to the first base of the waterfalls was even tougher to go and it was almost like getting down a huge ninety degree steep rock. With great effort we did it with a help of Mahabala. Without his bravery and support it wouldn't mere to impossible. We reached the base (first step) by risky climb catching grip of strong roots of the big trees that leap all over the rock strewn hill. This region was pretty dangerous because of the thick vegetation and steep ravines. While climbing down the moss makes staying on feet especially difficult.

We reached first stage of Nyger falls, which was one of the best falls in Uttara Kannada district in the terms of overall rating that I have visited, the way we approached it, the surroundings, the looks etc. I stood looking at it for some time trying to capture it forever in my mind.

We enjoyed the sheer beauty of the falls, the sheer power with which the water was flowing down and it seemed that it would pull you away along with it and throws you into the gushing black rock hitting water below. We tried to reach close, as the rocks near the base are sharp and very slippery. While looking down it has one more stage and we can’t guess how long it is. Downer stream of the falls has seen very tiny.
We felt so glad to watch the falls; it was like gallons of milk pouring down. The hill stood still everything around was mute except the sound of the waterfalls. We proud to say that fist human step in the first stage of waterfalls is ours. With great reluctance we pulled ourselves away from the beautiful sight, headed back the same way we had come, though very exhausted our minds still residing with nature. We reached our places looking forward and planning for another weekend trek same as Nyger another magical place to dwell on.

Unforgettable Tales - NeGd Waterfalls

I've been enjoying hiking to the waterfalls as i think they're very romantic, so this time i was quite excited to explore a new waterfall in UttarKannada District with my team. The entire morning hours Prsanna was driving, as navigation is difficult due to the lack of info and so many deviations. As we arrived the intersection where the road divides into South road and South-east Rd, the skies were now cloudy and Grey. And yes, there were visible raindrops.
Shakily driving up a steep and slippery muddy hill road unknowingly we lost our way and the ground turned so slippery the poor discovery which runs on NetGD region tires had no choice than to follow the ruts. After cresting a little butte the track dipped into a large, terribly rutted slippery. Then the unavoidable happened our vehicle clanked into a mud, the back tires damp clay sucks in vehicle foolish enough to stray across its path during the wet season. It was completely trapped.
I floored the right pedal but the vehicle didn't respond well. With a soft Smack the Discovery found its resting place, after careful watching the vehicle from every angle, stumbling in the mud and getting wet we came to the conclusion that it was well stuck. I was proud of myself about this deduction. So I had to come to the conclusion that I'd need some helping hand.
A local farmer man came walking down the track and I quickly approached him for help. We both together went up to the high attitude terrain to get mobile network. Thanks to modern electronics the phone was working. He phoned to his few resourceful friends to ask more technical help, a local farmer eventually helped out by offering the rope while villagers gathered at the scene and after half an hour few more added all of their support with their immense help finally we came out from the biggest trouble. We began to relax for while and one villager agreed to join with us for further trail and we ventured to further south.
The further trail was still quite challenging with a good deal of soapy ground and very nasty fallen trees. After 2.5kms drive we left our vehicle and started to walk on leaches surrounded muddy track.
The trek started in a little village with an uphill than the track went along a large forest before plunging in it and following a small streamBeginning part of the walk, the trail looks good and for most part the trail was bearable but about half in the trail passes through the vast paddy fields and it became very muddy and a hazard.
After crossing the Paddy fields we crossed a small stream and a pale trail leading up into the deep forest again. The trail looked so beautiful and untouched that we would totally see a brontosaurus roll out into the valley. The vegetation was predominantly thick evergreen forests with green grass and the cluster of trees.
Most of the trail in under the cover of trees so it wasn't too bad. I love that the trees above provide a lot of shade so it is a cool hike. I love the lush plants and enjoy the various giant banyan trees, bamboo forest and flowers. Didn't take too long to get to the waterfall, probably 45 minutes there and the same walking back. By the time we reached hill top opposite to amazing Canyon is the waterfalls all that effort it now seemed, had been in vain. The water is fresh water and its amazing after a sweaty hike up to it.
When we see the falls, wow it's high. With deep narrow gorges sheltered by impressive woodland and the scenery is marvelous and generally sheltered terrain makes it an ideal outing when cloud obscures the peaksThis waterfall is most beautiful during the monsoons when the falls creates a spectacular view with water plunging down in 4 tiers of approx 500 feet height creating deafening noise that could be heard from a distance.
Our day at NetGd Waterfalls opened up a new world of Western-Ghat to us and our philosophy of avoiding the crowds and exploring the unbeaten track once again lead us to unforgettable tales.
